Unbroken, Unbowed (GG1 #4872 at South Amboy, 1983)
Title:  Unbroken, Unbowed (GG1 #4872 at South Amboy, 1983)
Description:  GG1 #4872 was a 1939 product of Pennsylvanias Altoona shops. She was one of three GG1s chosen for PRRs famous "silver" livery color scheme, and later served the public under Penn Central, Amtrak, and NJT ownership. Here, in October of 1983, during the last few weeks of her active life, 4872 contemplates mortality. She would go to the torch in 1985, the second to last GG1 to be scrapped.
